Carvin Company was founded in 1946 by Lowell Kiesel as the L. C. Kiesel Company in Los Angeles, California. At the present time the company is headquartered in San Diego, California. In 1949, the company changed the name to Carvin, after two eldest sons of the founder, Carson and Gavin. In the 1950s, Carvin remade guitars made by Harmony and Kay under his own name, and then began making guitars mostly from Hofner components. Carvin was also a reseller of Fender and Martin guitars, Sonola accordions, Rheem organs, and DeArmond accessories. The company produced its first mail-order catalog in 1954, and thus established the direct-to-customer business.
Carvin stores are located in Covina, San Diego, Santa Ana, Hollywood and Sacramento, where customers can buy amplifiers, pro audio equipment, guitars and basses and other accessories. |
